There is a new study group Daigaku will be leading from his teacher’s book The Essence of Zen. Because Sekkei Harada Roshi was Daigaku’s teacher, and because he translated the book, he has insights into it that one can get nowhere else. This is an ongoing series studying this important work.
Rev. Sekkei Harada was one of the great Zen masters of our time. He was
abbot of Hosshinji Monastery in Fukui, Japan for more than forty years. This
book is based on a collection of his teachings that were all given in the west.
The study group will be led by Rev. Daigaku Rummé, who was ordained by Harada Roshi in 1978 and who translated the book from Japanese to English. Rummé is the resident priest and teacher of Confluence Zen Center STL.
You can get a copy of the book from the Zen Center .
Suggested donation is $40 for non-members and $20 for members. You can call or email to reserve a seat or let someone know at the center. Number is 314.669.4465 and the email is confluencezen@gmail.com.
