The Calm After The Storm

The Japanese Festival was a lot of work, but it was a rousing success. The rain on the first day did little to suppress attendance and the following two days were beautiful. The stand was busy pretty much from the beginning until the end.

Thanks to all the volunteers who gave up time to help foster that success. Without them, the Center couldn’t have done it.

The equipment is packed away, waiting for next year’s Festival.

Intro to Zen Meditation Starting 09 Sep

This class is a five session series on the basics of Zen Buddhism and meditation. It will be held every Thursday starting on 09 Sep going through to 07 Oct. All are welcome to learn and participate.

The “Introduction to Zen and Zen Meditation” series is given twice a year at the Confluence Zen Center, once in the spring and once in the fall.

This time (Fall 2021), we are trying a hybrid version for the first time: students attending both in person and on Zoom. If you can, it is preferable to take the course in person. It is much easier to demonstrate how we do zazen (meditation) in person, plus there is the benefit of sitting with other people.

The classes are taught by Rev. Daigaku Rummé, a Zen priest in the Soto tradition and resident
priest and teacher of the Confluence Zen Center STL.

Since Covid-19 is still a concern, we ask that those who take the series in person:

  • Be fully vaccinated
  • Wear a mask while at the Center
  • That there will be a maximum of seven students, first come, first served.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us by email at confluencezen@gmail.com or by phone at 314-669-4465

The cost of the series is $50 for non-members and $25 for members.
