Seven people have sewn a rakusu, a traditional Japanese garment worn around the neck of Zen Buddhists and which signifies they have taken the precepts, and Lay Ordination. It is an arduous process to sew a rakusu and took several months.
We are very grateful for Rev. Hogetsu Belzer from Ancient Dragon Zen Center in Chicago for coming down and getting us on our way with an intensive weekend and to our Sangha member, Elaine Pontious, who guided us the rest of the way. We are so very grateful!
All are invited to join us at 11:00 am on Sunday, June 23 for the ceremony, followed by a potluck.
